Joy. Inspiration. Find yourself. That’s what my goal is with Wanderglow. Yes, this is a destination focused on beauty and travel, but I also hope to inspire others to take charge of their goals while figuring out how they intersect with their interests. For me, my interests involve…my kids & husband (obvious), anything skincare (sensible), adventure (exciting), and being able to explore and be spontaneous (#lifegoals).
From the bottom of my heart, thank you for taking the time, whether it is 30 seconds or 30 minutes, to visit Wanderglow, which I like to call a destination inspired by beauty and travel. Wanderglow is the culmination of my professional experiences, my travels, my skincare and makeup experiments and my life. I’ve been travel-obsessed and skincare aware for a few decades and most recently, founded my own advice-based beauty company, called HiLovely. Now I am turning that into real and practical ideas and a community, which includes YOU.
I’ll be the first to admit, this destination of Wanderglow will evolve over time – and I look forward to sharing this evolution with you.
This is my first foray into writing and when I first decided to do this, my plan was to launch a fully baked site with tons of posts and images so it looks like its been up for years. That way, it looks, well, similar to those other blogs you might like. However, that goes against why I am starting this blog. I want to share this journey as I build a site, a voice and a brand. What I have to share is as important as how I share it, even if that means stumbling a long the way with wardrobe malfunctions (i.e. yoga today was a great example of this) or selfies that should never make it out of the Deleted Images folder. Hopefully it inspires you, or others you know, to do something similar – to really go for your personal and professional goals and chart your own course in whatever way works for you. And along the way, I promise to introduce you to unique beauty products you’ve never seen and to take you places you’ve never been, with a tad bit of lifestyle and humor thrown in.
On the beauty side…You’ll notice I cover a lot of indie or green/clean beauty brands. I am not exclusively focused on clean beauty, per se, but I am committed to supporting effective and exquisite products, and often that mission intersects with emerging brands created by people like me that are just looking to make a difference or make better products. I don’t currently use a ton of chemicals on my skin but I am open minded enough to know that maybe I’ll change my mind later if I am looking for rapid results to solve obvious skin conditions (hello sunspots!). Our skin and bodies are in a constant state of evolution and I have no idea what I will really need (or think I need!) in five years.
When it comes to travel…I am not a full-time traveler so this isn’t a blog about backpacking the world or budget travel or how to do 40 countries in one year or something like that. There are a lot of amazing stories and sites for that already. First and foremost, I am a wife then a mom to two tiny humans. We love our base and community of San Francisco so we aren’t constant nomads, as cool as I think that lifestyle is. During my travels, I always seek out unique and effective skincare products (sometimes makeup too) and am eager to finally start sharing these outside of my family and friends.
You may wonder…why would someone start a site like this, a blog, for lack of a better word, now? Many bloggers have been at this for 5 or 10 years so what can I really contribute by starting now? I would be lying if I said I don’t face these questions every day from that subconscious voice that tries to tell me to take the safe path and just get a regular job and sit back at a desk all day. But I did that for a long time and it isn’t where my heart is today. I am doing this because, well, in the words of Bono “I still haven’t found what I’m looking for” when it comes to online personalities that I really identify with. And from my experience as an entrepreneur….if I feel that way, others do too. So join me as I build a new community with friends and strangers – may we all be friends soon.
My mission is to share all of this and to totally rock Wanderglow as a destination. I hope to inspire others to do the same – figure out who you want to be and do it well. Don’t try to be someone else – strive to be the best and happiest YOU. However you do you, do it well!
Lastly…. please, bring on the questions, comments, love and criticism (constructive, please!!! ) – it helps me keep things relevant, fresh and full of perspective.
Thank you for stopping by!
